#10 Oklahoma (4-1) at #19 Texas (4-1) +11
This week the Oklahoma Sonners travel to play the Texas Longhorns. Nobody expected these two team teams to both be coming off loses when they came into this huge Big 12 match up. Last week the Longhorns lost to Kansas State Wildcats 41-21 and the Sooners were defeated by the Colorado Buffalos 27-24. Texas took a bigger hit in the rankings falling 12 places while Oklahoma dropped 7 places. This is a big game, as the loser will, more than likely, have their BCS hopes dashed. Oklahoma has won the last 5 meetings and many by lopsided scores. Both teams are looking to regroup and begin to crawl back up the rankings.
Oklahoma is led by freshman QB Sam Bradford (1,179 yds 15 TD 4 INT) who has played well being one of the first throw first QB's the Sooners have had in some time. In total yards the Sooners are ranked 13th in the nation. The Sooner rushing attack is led by the duo of Allen Patrick (401 yds 5 TD) and DeMarco Murray (316 yds 8 TD) who have played well both averaging over 6 yards per carry. The main receivers for Oklahoma are Juaquin Iglesias (459 yds 3 TD) and Malcolm Kelly (349 yds 7 TD). The Sooners D is good, ranked 11th in the nation, but will need to keep the Longhorns in check as they have many weapons.
Texas is led by QB Colt McCoy (1254 yds 8 TD 9 INT) who has racked up big yards but has made some bad decisions leading to 9 interceptions. The Longhorn rushing attack is led by Jamaal Charles (543 yds 7 TD) who will have to get by a tough front line of the Sooners so they do not focus on Bradford. McCoy is a mobile QB as he has over 100 rushing this season. McCoy's targets are Nate Jones (323 yds 2 TD) and Limas Sweed (281 yds 3 TD). On defense the Longhorns need to play better on special teams as Kansas State scored two touchdowns on returns. Texas is 113th in the nation defending punt returns and 89th in kickoff return yards allowed. The Texas D is ranked 48th overall and must step up against a talented Sooner offense. If the special teams D can play well and keep the Sooners from scoring they will be in a good position to win this game. The Sooners have a lot of weapons offensively but the game is in Texas and the Longhorns have been looking to exact some revenge on their Big 12 rival. Texas may not win, as Oklahoma is a better team, but they will cover the spread at home.
