Baltimore Ravens (4-3) +9.5 at Pittsburg Steelers (5-2)

This Monday night features a big AFC North match up as the Baltimore Ravens travel to Pittsburg to play the Steelers. The Division is a tight race with the Steelers in first at 5-2 but they have both Baltimore (4-3) and Cleveland (4-3) breathing down their necks. The Steelers can put some distance between themselves and the Ravens with a victory Monday night. The Ravens need a victory to be tied for first in this tight division. Last week the Steelers rebounded and beat their division rival Cincinnati 24-13 while the Ravens had a bye week to think about this game. The Ravens went into the bye week after losing to the Buffalo Bills 19-14. This game will be a defensive struggle as both teams feature a great defense. Steve McNair will be back after missing the Buffalo game, which may give a lift to the Ravens but he will have to play better than he has so far this season as he has been both injured and inconsistent.

The Pittsburg Steelers and their 4th rated offense are led by QB Ben Roethlisberger (1533 yds 15 TD 6 INT), who has played well this season and is the 4th rated QB in the NFL. Where the Steelers are tough is in their rushing attack as they are led by Willie Parker (726 yds 2 TD), who is 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards. He will have a tough test this week against a Ravens defense that is tough against the run. Roethlisberger's main targets are Hines Ward (274 yds 3 TD) and Santonio Holmes (426 yds 4 TD). Ward had a big game against Cincinnati with 2 TD's after missing three weeks with an injury. Roethlisberger will have to spread it out and keep the Ravens D on their toes not letting them focus on one aspect of the game. The Steelers defense is ranked 1st in the league and ranked 4th against the pass and the run. They are led by Linebackers James Farrior (34 tackles 4 sacks) and Clark Haggans (22 tackles 3.5 sacks). Ike Taylor (2 INT) anchors their secondary. The Steelers are a swarming defense that will give any QB nightmares.

The Ravens and their 15th rated defense are led by Steve McNair (922 yds 2 TD 2 INT) who should get the start after missing the Buffalo game with an injury. McNair has been inconsistent all year and will have to get back on track against a tough Steelers D. The Ravens rushing attack is led by Willis McGahee (639 yds 2 TD) who is third in the NFL in yards this season. McGahee will have to pick up some yards Sunday so the Steelers defense does not solely focus on the banged up McNair. The Ravens offensive line has a tough task of protecting McNair and opening up holes for McGahee against a Steelers front line that is formidable. McNair's targets are Derrick Mason (56 rec 529 yds 2 TD) as that's about it as the Ravens as they do not have a strong passing attack ranked 16th in the league. The Ravens strength is their defense as they rank 2nd in the NFL only allowing a total of 268 yards per game. They are especially strong against the run ranked 2nd only allowing 71.9 yards per game. The Ravens D is led by Linebacker Ray Lewis (59 tackles) and Safety Ed Reed (4 INT). The Ravens are tough against the run and have to stop Parker from finding the holes for big gains. The Ravens have been up and down all season but the one constant has been their defense. Look for a low scoring game as the Ravens may not win but will cover the spread.
